Glitched Perceptions
2015
Digital images, manipulated hex code, printed on archival paper.
“Glitched Perceptions” challenges the reliability of digital imagery and the influence of personal bias in interpreting visual information. Using a hex editor, controversial text—such as arguments for and against polarizing topics—is embedded into the code of digital files, resulting in deliberate visual distortions. These glitches symbolize the emotional and cognitive biases that distort perception, mirroring the way divisive subjects are debated in society. The resulting images invite viewers to reconstruct what they see, fostering critical engagement with the interplay of emotion, data, and digital representation.
